The Power Of A Furball
I am kitten-sitting, minding a kitten for a few weeks, and damn she’s cute (see right). We have just spent the best part of a day together - not good for my productivity at all. She has been given the highly imaginative name of Sooty.
Sooty may be a mere 10 weeks old, but she already knows more than some of us learn in a lifetime.
1. Cuteness goes a long way
Sooty gets a lot of attention and treats, via such tricks as standing on her hind legs and waving her paws in the air, or rolling over to have her tummy tickled.
2. Every day is exciting
Sooty wakes up, does a kitten stretch and bounces around the house squeaking with the pure joy of existing.
3. Enthusiasm is contagious
Well, you can hardly feel down around a kitten, can you?
4. Do a solid day’s work and then nap
Sooty spends a good amount of time at the computer. Admittedly the copy she produces while on my laptop is 0000099999vjfjhft, but that’s better than I could do at 10 weeks! She is now taking a well-deserved nap on my left arm, so I am typing this with my right hand (I’m left-handed).

Ugh, I’ve become one of those kitten blogs. Next I’ll be choosing a pink blog theme. I need some cynicism!

January 11th, 2008 at 9:40 pmI’ve seen perfectly good blogs ruined by kitty posts. But then, the best posts on these blogs were about the cats. I think someone needs to do a study about the relation between cats and blogging…
