4 Reasons It’s Good To Be Hungover

My heart aches, and a drowsy numbness pains. My sense, as though of hemlock I had drunk.

Yes, that’s a Keats quote (glad those 3+ years of English Lit are now coming in handy) and no, I’m not dying of tuberculosis; I simply drank a lot last night and now I feel a little fragile. My head aches more than my heart, actually.

While being hungover on a Sunday is not particularly original, or pleasant if you’re passing by rows half-full (or half-empty?) tepid wine glasses and recoiling at the whiff of old blue cheese stuck to the table, I felt there could be a positive spin on it.

1. You can blamelessly do nothing all day.
Being hungover means it is virtually impossible to get anything done, especially something as silly as going to the gym or cleaning the house. There need not be guilt; just sit back and let your body heal itself. And catch up on the blogging, but quietly. No caps.

2. You can eat what you want.
Your body is craving salty and fatty food - a fry-up, some pancakes… Indulge it. You owe it to the betterment of mankind… or something.

3. You have an update to your Facebook status.
Rich Minx is oooooh my head; Rich Minx is forgetting what she remembered she forgot last night; Rich Minx is never drinking again until next weekend.

4. You save money.
Being hungover means you simply don’t have the energy to go out shopping. Of course, the money you spent on the alcohol in the first place is another thing, but that was yesterday - don’t dredge up the past!

There were going to be 5 reasons, but that’s too many for me today. Pancakes are calling.

Four reasons is enough! No need to over extend yourself while hungover, right?

As somebody who spent the best part of yesterday hungover, I concur. They’re horrible things, but have some bright sides. Just as long as teh bright side is kept out of my eyes ;)

I feel your pain. Unfortunately for me I had to get on a plane today. Flying with a hangover is not an experience I’d like to repeat anytime soon.
