What Is Your Flagship Post?
If you run a blog, which post is your ‘flagship’ post so far? A flagship post is one that your blog is most well-known for. You might not consider it your best post, but it’s the one that’s received the most traffic/comments/bouquets.
I ask because a while back ChrisG, who runs the Authority Blogger Forum I frequent and chatter on, got us all to submit our flagship posts a while back and stuck them on his blog. It’s a very mixed Greatest Hits list because we all write on different topics.
Mine is still that old chestnut, How To Make 4c A Week From Your Blog. I had just had a 4c week from Google AdSense and wrote an honest post about how I ‘achieved’ it, which a lot of people related to. (Coming up: How To Reach 10 RSS Subscribers.)
Anyway, I skimmed the list of flagship posts, opened the ones with the best titles and sifted through those. My favorites are below:
- Blogging Fingers sold a blog and advises how to do it. RichMinx.com would have to be pulled from my cold, dead hands – but I’m still interested in how one goes about selling a blog.
- Straight To The Bar takes a slight detour with 10 tips on Starting Your Fitness Journey. Great tips for some of us inert bloggers! I would also add: think about your workout outfit. Not (just) for vanity; the right shoes and fabric etc can make a big difference.
- Imaging Buffet has 4 Tips For Taking Better Low-Light Photos. Handy tips for my travel photography, and anything with pretty nightshots of the Eiffel Tower is just a bonus.
- SEO Refugee has 10 Mistakes That Will Kill A Forum. I’ve set up and run a few forums, and I’m an active forum user, so these words of warning ring very true.
- Cre8pc had a bad experience with a massive traffic influx in I Don’t Digg Being Dugg. I have mixed feelings about Digg; it’s huge, has some interesting articles and the traffic flow can be nice (although I’ve never had a homepage article), but people can be pretty gosh-darn mean. Meanies!
So, people: What’s your ‘flagship’ article thus far? Is it the one you expected?
