Rich Minx Traffic Flash Mob And Long Tail Oddities
It’s important to check your site stats - not every hour, but every few days to analyze your traffic and see how people are showing up.
I was pleased just before to see that yesterday there were over 1,000 visitors to Rich Minx. That’s above average and mostly because my 7.5 Reasons I Abandoned You Today post got vigorously Stumbled. The burst of activity is like a sugar high, or a Flash Mob. Some subscribed to my giant orange lozenge RSS feed. Welcome! Tea?
I also like to check the search engine queries that bring people to chez Rich Minx. To do so, I use Google Analytics, click ‘Traffic Sources Overview’ and then ‘View All’ under ‘Keywords’.
Some on the list are expected and some take me rather by surprise. Below is a list of both from recent stats.
Expected keywords used in searches:
Unexpected keywords used in searches:
- Astrology, will the NZ dollar keep rising? (I look into my crystal ball and… I bloody hope not!)
- Empty your wallet into your head (okaaay)
- Nuptial agreement: he wants I don’t (
) - Does Rich Minx find Jessica Alba Hot? (Not really, and that’s the honest truth. She looks so plastic, and seems kind of dull.)
What do people search for to arrive at your site?

Hehe…I did that Jessica Alba one to see if it would make it into one of your posts.

August 13th, 2007 at 8:19 amSorry but I have to seriously disagree with you on Jessic Alba. Her smile is just so fine and she does not come across as a typical hollywood star. She has more depth. I am sorry you disagree with me on this but I have to defend her whenever possible, because I am a fan.

You’ll find some brilliant keyword searches on 103bees - “flickr french cut panties” was mildy amusing until I realised that my site wasn’t even in the top 50 - that was a bloody determined searcher!
August 16th, 2007 at 5:31 pmRichard: Someone was bound to defend her. I respect your fan-ness and won’t slander Ms Alba any further.
Alastair: That’s hilarious! You don’t say which article they clicked through to, though.
