My Review Of OneMansGoal’s Review Of Me

Bryan of OneMansGoal.com has reviewed me. It’s the first time I’ve paid for a review ($15 via PayPal, which seemed reasonable - especially compared with JohnChow.com’s $400!).

Why order a paid review?

  • Authority. Some sites will review you for free, but are unlikely to be as well-known as someone who charges. Bryan is a new blogger but has been working so hard that his stats and income are shooting up.
  • Quality. Bryan seemed a good choice because he puts a lot of effort into his reviews.
  • Attention. Paying for a review means someone devotes a whole post to you! That’s nice. And you may get some clicks and comments.
  • Feedback. It’s good to know how others see you. Sometimes.

Anyway, the review was really lovely. Anyone who calls me a ‘mastermind’ is my new BFF.

And I totally agree with Bryan’s suggestion that I pimp my header. I like the cat/money thing but the lettering needs some work and the whole thing should be smaller to bring the content up higher. Any design maestros out there with ideas? Will pay.

Have you ever ordered a paid review?

I have never ordered a paid review. Maybe I should ask people to do a paid review of fair review (or maybe a paid fair review?!?!), just to get the ball rolling…..

  2. Bryan Says:

Rhys - Speaking of the “fair” review… That’s something that’s important to look for when trying to find a site review. Why get a review if they are afraid to point out any potential flaws? That’s why I put in writing that I do not guarantee a good review. I guarantee a fair review that is well researched and thorough.

Minx - Wanted to add something… Anytime somebody can get Darren Rowse to comment on my page for only the second time would definitely be considered my BFF. Maybe we should get matching necklaces or something to make it official.

  4. Rhys Says:

Bryan - Allow me to explain. I missed out an important point - “Fair Review” is a website of mine (http://www.fair-review.co.uk)

The difference between a paid review of fair review and a paid fair review is the site reviewed in question :)

What I was meaning was that I could either get people to review fair-review.co.uk (a paid review of the website), or maybe negotiate a deal whereby I pay somebody to do a review of a blog within the fair review directory (just like the free listings), with the added bonus of they themselves being included in the directory :)

I have no qualms with criticism myself! I know that fair-review.co.uk has faults, and intend to deal with them. I’m just looking at ways to get the word out.

I’d be scared to order a review. Like Bryan said, I’m better off leaving my flawed little site alone. :D

  6. Roberta Says:

I’ve never done a paid review, as of yet…I’m confident in my design and everything, but I’m still getting traffic and links from the meme I started in June… :)

Angela - you know you have a kick ass site!

    Hi Shona,

It will be useless to order a review as my blog:
It is for now a personal blog sharing some moods.

& as you know, it’s also a blog only in French at the moment (even if I’m looking for a solution on that matter).

I can’t say I don’t have a few ideas about what I should work on later (checking Google Anaytics results) but this not (yet) the aim of this blog.

I’m currently [hard] working on another concept.
I must keep concentrated to achieve my nearest goals so…

    Have all a nice day!
    Bluebeetle(one).

How much extra traffic do you think you got from this review? Any idea?

I can’t tell from the review alone because Bryan links to me elsewhere too, but according to my stats he’s sent me 100 visits in the last month. So thanks Bryan! :)
