Gamble And Win Millions
Hello, I’m still here! I went away spontaneously and and didn’t time-stamp any posts, and my server went down to boot. Sorry about that.
I was away on a whirlwind trip to the Grand Canyon that included a night in Vegas. I’d been to Vegas before, so knew what to expect. I’m not a big gambler, or even a little gambler. A few yanks on the slot machine and some chips tossed on a roulette table are about all I’m good for.
But while there I read an article about a woman who has become a millionaire from playing poker! A multi-millionaire, in fact. I did a search and found a brief bio here. She was a psychology student but when her poker-pro brother saw her knack with the cards he encouraged her to move to Vegas and play tournaments. I guess psychology is a key part of poker playing.
So, millions from poker… does that make gambling a form of investment? I might have to sharpen my skills. My father taught me poker at a young age (using toothpicks instead of money) so I know what a Royal Straight Flush is, and how to look pleased when I have a crap hand etc.
But one thing in the article I read struck me; she mentioned that in a recent tournament with 8000 competitors, only 200 or so were female. She said many women were not confident enough to play with the ‘big boys’ and would often participate in women-only tournaments, which she supported but found frustrating because poker should be a gender-equal game.
I think blogging’s a pretty gender-equal game, although I still haven’t encountered a John Chow-ette.

I was looking for your ‘Text Link Ads’ but can’t see any ? Is it worth signing up for them ? Any Friend Finder is it worth it ? Hope you don’t mind be being nosey.
July 11th, 2007 at 7:44 pmHi Vic,
A few people have asked me about Text Link Ads. Might have to do a post about it
You’re right, I don’t use them in my content just because I find them a bit distracting. But they’re one of the most popular ways for bloggers to earn money from their blogs - John Chow uses them, for example. And as a referrer I make a commission when people sign up. Is this hypocritical? Maybe, but when people click the link they can sign up as a publisher or as a referrer, like me. It’s personal choice.
And being a FriendFinder Affiliate… well, all I can say is that it’s made me decent money over the years. They have a lot of affiliate options.
July 11th, 2007 at 7:57 pmHi Richminx,
July 12th, 2007 at 11:41 amUgh ! I just spent multiple minutes writing a comment then forgot to type the anti-spam word and everything disappeared ! Does God have nothing better to do with his time ? Well, never mind here goes again !
I saw some TextLink ads. on another site and they are really sneaky ! You think you are just clicking on a link to a page, when in fact you are clicking on a paid ad. without any warning unlees you look at the bar at the bottom of the page. So I tried to sign up! Unfortunately, in their wisdom they said I didn’t have enough traffic but they will review my site in a month, so at some point you might be getting $25 ! (If I read their stuff correctly). So please use all your talents to drive hordes of traffic to my site and you will become even richer than you already are !
I’m afraid I already signed up to FriendFinder some time ago through someone else’s site.
Now will I remember to type in the anti-spam word?
Hmmm I guess I must have.
Hooray! Ha, ‘even richer’ - wouldn’t be hard.
Well, let me know how it goes. I’ve heard they can do quite well. Yes, the underlined text is sneaky. I’ve learned to recognize them on other sites. John Chow even has it set up for comments so if I leave a comment on his site (rare these days) it’s often filled with TLA.
Sorry about the anti-spam word. Gosh that’s annoying that a comment gets deleted if the word is forgotten. I wonder if there’s a way around it? Anyone?
July 12th, 2007 at 11:51 amThose underlined words are not TLAs, they are http://www.kontera.com/ I find them very annoying.
I posted a story on my blog a while ago about a guy who trained for 6 years so he could consistantly roll the dice in craps and through what he wanted. He studied physics and controlled the bounce and was able to significantly beat the house. Of course, just like with the card counters in Black Jack, the casinos didn’t take too kindly to him.
Minx, you’re my John Chow-ette
July 12th, 2007 at 11:38 pmOh no, is that good or bad? If only I had his income!
Must be my lack of Kontera.
I didn’t know dice could be strategically rolled. Wish I’d known that through all the years of Monopoly as a child. I was always in jail and never had the hotels.
