10 Simple Steps to Becoming a Han Solo Blogger
I simply couldn’t let the 30th anniversary of the very first Star Wars movie pass by without a tribute post. I was a mere fetus when it was released but that didn’t stop me queuing for days to get to the first screening!
Han Solo was the coolest character in the original trilogy, apart from R2D2. He had the looks, the attitude, the rough exterior with the inner hero and leader just waiting to break out. Here’s what we can learn from Han.
1. Live alone, die alone is not the way.
Han is initially a selfish loner looking out for his best interests only. But he soon begins to learn that working for the greater good is rewarding, earns you more kudos and friends who have then got your back when you’re in trouble.
2. Be a little reckless.
Han took chances. He wasn’t like everyone else. He stood out. Leia’s response: “Are you crazy?!”
3. Be witty.
People appreciate humor. Luke was always so earnest and whiny. Han had the cheek. He even winked at the princess during the medal ceremony. Scandalous!
4. Be tech-savvy. Pimp your ride.
Han knew how to operate the Millennium Falcon to its fullest potential.
5. Be quotable.
“Never tell me the odds!”
“You know, sometimes I amaze even myself.”
“Laugh it up, fuzzball.”
6. Take a gamble or two.
But don’t gamble your money. Han’s type of gambling resulted in bounty hunters chasing him for heavy debts. We couldn’t simply wipe out the debt collector and toss some coins on the bar counter muttering, “Sorry about the mess.”
7. Become a leader.
Pick up more and more skills and experiences until suddenly you are the authority. Take charge.
8. Value your sidekicks, even the hairy ones.
They are the ones who rescue you from being frozen.
9. Keep an eye on your enemies.
Avoid having enemies, but if it’s too late for that, don’t turn your back on them. Especially not the fat slimy ones.
10. Use the Force.
Who wouldn’t? To learn how, consult some blogging Jedi Masters.
