I Heart Viralink
This is a shameless attempt to get more links, I know. I’m a Link Schlampe. But I’m throwing my caution to the wind! Linkage -> Traffic -> Monetizing, not that I’m all about that, of course. It will also give me something to watch as I check my Technorati ranking for the fifty millionth time.

Below is a matrix of 120 stars, I have already added a link to my blog onto one of the stars, all you need to do is copy and paste the grid into your blog and add your own link to one of the other spare stars, and tell others to do the same!

A link without anchor text (or rather, with * as the anchor text)? Good for a PR boost, but I don’t see it doing much for relevancy. But links are links.

I think you’re missing the point. You should only link those who copy the grid from your page, thats why it’s a pyramid linking scheme. If you link everyone that joins from any grid then you’ll limit the experiment to the first 120 who join.
If you only link to those who copy the grid from your page then the links you can get are unlimited as Andy explains with his graphics and the experiment is open to hundreds of thousands of bloggers, not just the first 120
