Delivered to Your Door
A few weeks ago MSN Money ran a handy list of psychological tricks that stores use to get you to buy more. Some I was aware of, like putting all those tempting tidbits at the checkout like gum and chocolate so you’ll slip them into your cart on a whim. I do that all the time.
One thing it doesn’t mention as an alternative is shopping online. I’m referring to grocery shopping specifically. If you have a list, it’s much easier to stay focused and it’s all over with much faster than wearily winding your way through 20 aisles skimming shelves of things you don’t need and listening to that god-awful supermarket muzak.
I always spend much less when shopping online and find the $5 delivery charge worth paying because I’m saving time and still spending less overall. And here in the States, the food is delivered in boxes and not plastic bags which is great.
Has anyone else tried buying groceries online?
