10 Ways to Needlessly Spend Money
I have personally spent my money on silly things as research for this post, so you won’t have to. No, no need to thank me.
- Browse in shops to kill time. Don’t be discriminatory, any price range will do.
- Don’t eat/drink before you leave the house so you get hungry when you’re out.
- Slow your pace as you pass one of those corner stalls selling sunglasses and handbags and snowglobes. I do like snowglobes, though.
- Join a gym and never go. Then upgrade your membership in case it motivates you. It doesn’t.
- Supersize and then don’t finish the meal.
- Do something touristy and then purchase a mediocre $20 photo of yourself doing it. (Honestly, there’s one staring at me on my desk right now. I keep it there as a reminder of how not to spend my money.)
- Use a credit card and don’t pay your balance for months.
- Buy a magazine that is 90% filled with makeup and clothes that “you totally need this summer!”
- Buy a new book and then scribble all through it so you can’t on-sell.
- Don’t floss. But really, why does it have to be so boring?
How do you needlessly spend your money?

I’m definitely guilty of subscribing to shopping magazines…I’ve been subscribing to Lucky for years. Hi, I’m a shopaholic!
May 29th, 2007 at 2:25 pmBuying books that sit on bookshelves and never get read is my bad spending habit. Especially with a two-year old daughter, my reading time has dwindled to next to nothing.

May 29th, 2007 at 4:20 pmI go to Rent-A-Center to check out the new technology and whatnot and end up with a giant plasma TV and a new living room group. This is an excellent way to get rid of all my cash quickly! My friends no longer allow me to go to Rent-A-Center without them.
