SEO, ROI, CPC… it’s so now
The other day I went to a web expo at the local Hilton. All the big guns were there - Microsoft, Yahoo, Google - and the newer start-ups, all with stalls and pamphlets and demos. I like expos to gather information and see what companies are doing, but they’re also schmooze-fests that are predominantly male. Where are the women?
What interested me most is that most of these new companies specialise in ’search engine optimisation’. If you are a company with a website, you can put them in charge of bumping up your traffic, increasing your sales conversions and sending your pretty e-newsletter. All very nice except they charge like wounded bulls. It’s really not that hard to do, but people think it is, and these companies are more than happy to maintain that illusion to keep the customers signing up.
